19 of the Russian's twenty-one championships have been earned on hard courts

A resurgent Daniil Medvedev secured his first title for nearly 30 months with victory over opponent Moutet in the competition title decider.

Medvedev, a ex- number one, has had a difficult year, winning just a single victory at the Grand Slams and suffering a meltdown at the American major.

Medvedev's varied form on the professional circuit - and issues with his serve in specific - caused him exiting of the world's top 10 and finally separating with former coach his previous coach.

Presently working with his coach and his other coach, Medvedev has gradually advanced in the recent weeks - peaking in a hard-fought 7-5 4-6 6-3 triumph over opponent Moutet.

This marks his first trophy following the Italian tournament and initial on a hardcourt after March of 2023.

The win also signifies he has won 21 victories at 21 different competitions.

"This marks the first occasion I am participating in a tournament with my children simultaneously, so to win a trophy is really nice," commented world number 14 Medvedev.

"This victory is in honour of my child her name, because the maiden victory I got when my first daughter her name was born was for her."

The tennis star, the former major winner, had failed in his last six finals, including in that event previously this season.

His defensive strategy and regular outbursts on court had prompted some to doubt if his capacity to compete at the top level was finished.

Yet the athlete has implemented adjustments in the last few weeks, striving to come to the net and play aggressively, supported by an better serve.

The champion came back from a break down in the initial set against the challenging Moutet, taking four of the concluding five exchanges to gain the advantage.

The pair swapped breaks in the middle set before the Frenchman, bidding for his first ATP Tour title, seized the initiative to create a third set.

He rescued 4 initial break points in a close deciding set before the Russian secured a break to that score to serve for the match.

Suitably, the winner clinched the title with a shot at the net, with his opponent failing to manage a volley after two hours and 38 minutes.
