From the very beginning of the fourth campaign, recently appointed game master Brennan Mulligan has maintained audience suspense with extensive world-building, a colorful mix of personalities, and a exciting storyline featuring celestial beings, demons, and sinister influences expanding in influence within the urban setting.
Note: Key plot points for the third episode of Campaign 4 follow below.
The Warrior Group Revealed
The third episode ended with a huge suspense moment and presented the premier party of heroes who will split off from the central cast to begin their independent quest, apart from the additional parties.
The combat-focused team features Teor Pridesire (portrayed by Travis), the agile character (the talented performer), Tyranny (Whitney), the cleric (Sam Riegel), and Kattigan Vale (Robbie Daymond).
Dividing the Cast
With 13 cast members, it was obvious from the start that maintaining everyone at a single group would be unworkable.
Hence, the first four episodes of Campaign 4 serve as an Prelude, connecting the characters’ stories before splitting into three smaller tables: Soldiers, Strategists, and Seekers.
What Defines the Soldiers Table
According to Brennan Lee Mulligan, the combat-focused party is for adventurers who are drawn to a classically intense fight-heavy narrative style where peaceful solutions are rare.
At first glance, characters like the hesitant healer Wicander Halovar might seem mismatched, but the developments of the latest installment show why these particular heroes are ideally matched for the Soldiers table.
Why They Must Go
To begin with, the party has a clear idea where to head next after a brutal initial meeting with the enemy group.
A former ally of the deceased character—whose demise started the campaign’s events—exploited the foes for his own means, invading Thjazi’s hideout, striking the character, and taking all the powerful objects to dispose of.
The traitor then settled his obligations and ran away to a fortified location in the northern region, beyond Dol-Makjar, with Teor’s brother pursuing him.
Individual Reasons
Additionally, each adventurer has a individual motive to leave the city Dol-Makjar:
- The rogue, as Thjazi’s partner and closest confidant, seeks vengeance.
- The adventurer knows the region and advises that it is a nasty place.
- The warrior and The cleric, having defied his house’s orders to eliminate the target and instead rescued him, have no safe haven.
- But, their status as key figures in the influential clan could enable the group access locations they usually can’t.
- Moreover, The fighter pledged a life debt to The savior for his deliverance and will now follow him anywhere.
Fugitives
In addition, all of them are wanted by the authorities that rule Dol-Makjar for a variety of reasons, making staying in the city too risky:
- Thimble and The character are known criminals.
- The warrior and The healer defied House Halovar and the army of fiends they are allied with.
- The target is marked for death by the family.
This leaves them few options but to travel to the northern region in search of the traitor.
Upcoming Developments
Based on episode three’s post-show segment, we learn that the Soldiers table will be absent next week, leaving the other eight participants to form the Seekers and Strategists tables.
Viewers can look forward to discovering which characters will be in which group in the story’s concluding setup installment, available to watch on next week.
